Daryl C. Osbahr, MD, is an internationally renowned Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Surgeon that serves as Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery and Managing Partner for Rothman Orthopaedics Florida as well as the Executive Medical Director for the AdventHealth Orthopedic Institute, Medical Director for Orthopedic Sports Medicine for the AdventHealth Orthopedic Institute and the Orthopedic Residency Director for AdventHealth.  Dr. Osbahr is the Co-Chief Medical Officer for USA Baseball and Team Physician for the US Soccer Men’s National Team. He has also been recently serving as the Medical Director and Head Orthopaedic Team Physician of the Orlando City Soccer Club (Orlando City Lions, Orlando Pride, Orlando City B, and Orlando City Development Academy), Orlando SeaWolves, Arnold Palmer Invitational, and Seminole State College. In addition, he is a team physician/ orthopaedic consultant for the Philadelphia Phillies, US Soccer, Professional Golf Association (PGA), Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), Symetra Tour, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), and Eastern Florida State College. Within the region, Dr. Osbahr serves as a Medical Director or Orthopaedic Consultant for the Sunshine State Athletic Conference, Florida Youth Soccer Association (FYSA), Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Football Championships, Sunshine State Athletic Conference (SSAC) Football Championships, and Mid-Florida Pop Warner Youth Football. Locally, Dr. Osbahr has also been recently serving as a medical director or team physician for numerous high schools, including Windermere Preparatory School, Jones High School, Wekiva High School, Masters Academy, Orlando Christian Prep, International Community School, Legacy Charter School, Faith Christian Academy, Mount Dora Christian Academy, and First Academy Leesburg.
Dr. Osbahr had previously served as Chief of Sports Medicine at Orlando Health, Fellowship Director for the Orlando Health Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship, Research Director for Orlando Health Sports Medicine, Director of the Orlando Health Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Residency Education in Orlando, Florida, as well as the Director of Sports Medicine Research and Associate Director of the MedStar Sports Medicine Fellowship at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Osbahr’s previous extensive sports medicine experience has included his involvement as a team physician and orthopedic consultant to other professional and college-level teams, including the Washington Nationals, Atlanta Braves, Washington Redskins, Baltimore Ravens, Orlando Apollos, Florida Fire Frogs (Atlanta Braves Single-A Affiliate), Loyola University of Maryland, Troy University, US Lacrosse, the Orlando Ballet, and the Alabama Ballet.
A native of Florida, Dr. Osbahr performed his orthopaedic and sports medicine training at some of the most prestigious institutions in the World. He completed his Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, AL, a premier sports medicine program under the guidance of Dr. James Andrews that treats internationally recognized professional athletes. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City and his internship in General Surgery at Weill Medical College of Cornell University at the New York - Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. He earned his MD and undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC.
Dr. Osbahr specializes in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine and is actively involved in surgical, clinical and basic science research. By beginning his career as a clinical research coordinator at Duke University Medical Center, he has developed a strong understanding of the underpinnings of clinical research and is recognized as an international leader in orthopaedic sports medicine. In fact, Dr. Osbahr has received several prestigious awards and grants recognizing his high-level research activities, including the AOSSM O’Donoghue Sports Injury Research Award, AOSSM Fellows Research Award, Major League Baseball Grant, Major League Soccer Grant, and American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Research Grant. He is the author of 70 articles and chapters and is an expert speaker at international, national, regional and local orthopedic-related meetings. He has led several research initiatives, including serving on the Shoulder Research Committee for Major League Baseball and the Research Committee for Major League Soccer. Dr. Osbahr is actively involved and serves on committees in a number of prestigious orthopaedic and sports medicine societies, including American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Major League Baseball, Major League Soccer, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the Florida Orthopaedic Society, and has been recognized as an orthopaedic leader through his induction into the American Orthopaedic Association and the only member from Central Florida in the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons.
In addition, Dr. Osbahr is intricately involved in national and local educational initiatives dealing with the prevention of youth and adult sports injuries, including serving on the USA Baseball Medical & Safety Committee as well as the former Chair for the education and outreach committee for the nationally recognized STOP Sports Injuries Campaign. Within the State of Florida, Dr. Osbahr also works on a grassroots level to advocate for safety and prevention of youth athletes through his role as former President and current Board of Directors for the Florida Alliance for Sports Medicine (FASMed), Committee Member of the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Sports Medicine Advisory Committee, as well as Medical & Safety Committee Member and Advisory Board Member of the Sunshine State Athletic Conference.
Dr. Osbahr is married to his high school sweetheart, Anne-Blyth, and they have three amazing children: Blake, Addie, and Callie. His life passions are focused on family, sports, and medicine. He especially enjoys traveling within the U.S. and around the world as well as participating in outdoor activities with his family.
