Dr. Kugelman is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in hip and knee replacement surgery. He received his medical degree from Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, which is one of the largest regional medical centers in the country. During his time in medical school, he completed an orthopedic research internship at The Hospital For Special Surgery. Dr. Kugelman further pursued orthopedic research during medical school, by performing an orthopedic trauma research fellowship at NYU Langone Health. After graduation from Geisinger, he completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at NYU Langone Health.  Following residency, he completed his fellowship in complex adult reconstructive procedures of the hip and knee at the world-renowned Duke University Medical Center.

His clinical interests include partial and total knee replacement, total hip replacement, robotic joint replacement, complex primary joint replacement, total knee revisions, total hip revisions, joint infections, prosthetic infections, prosthetic fractures, and lower extremity trauma. Dr. Kugelman practices patient centered medicine and works with individuals through shared decision making. He practices individualized medicine when evaluating the appropriate surgical and non-surgical management to musculoskeletal problems.

He remains active in research with over 40 peer reviewed publications and numerous book chapters. He has been part of over 100 poster and podium presentations at the top national orthopedic meetings, including The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and The American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. His research interests include improving outcomes following primary and revision joint replacement.
