Dr. Chang is a non-operative, fellowship trained sports medicine physician who specializes in sports and musculoskeletal injuries, arthritis and tendon injuries, diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal imaged guided procedures, and regenerative medicine. He sees all athletes and patients with any musculoskeletal condition to help optimize their function and quality of life.

He completed his internship at Coney Island Hospital with residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital and immediately followed with a fellowship in Sports Medicine from Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, New York. During his residency to fellowship, he has medically volunteered to assist at various marathons as well as a numerous combat sports related events, ranging from boxing to muay thai to mixed martial arts (MMA). In his fellowship year, Dr. Chang has served as assistant team physician for a wide range of high school, collegiate and professional sports teams.  He currently acts as one of the team captains for New York Road Runners and Triathlon events, ringside doctor for USA boxing, Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts (GAMMA), and World Kickboxing Association (WKA).  He is an active volunteer for Special Olympics Healthy Athletes Promotion events.    

Dr. Chang is a published physician and holds memberships with professional societies including the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and New York Society of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.  He continues to have an interest in research on biomechanics, innovative technologies and treatments, sports medicine, Special Olympics, combat sports, adaptive sports, musculoskeletal injuries, regenerative medicine, osteopathy, complementary and alternative medicine, public health, wellness, and physiatry related injuries and treatments.

Dr. Chang’s goal is to improve and optimize athletes and patients with musculoskeletal dysfunctions to return to play and daily activities of living as well as to prevent future injuries through awareness and lifestyle modifications.
