Matthew S. Austin, MD, has been Director of Adult Reconstruction at the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute since 2009 and oversees one of the world’s largest and most respected hip and knee replacement and joint preservation programs in the world. A 1998 graduate of the Temple University School of Medicine, Dr. Austin completed an Internship in General Surgery, a Residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and a Fellowship in Adult Reconstruction at the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute.
Dr. Austin is a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and holds editorial positions with numerous medical journals, lectures extensively across the United States and internationally. He has published over 100 scholarly articles on joint reconstruction in leading peer-reviewed Journals. He is Chair of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons’ Evidence-based Medicine Committee. Dr. Austin is a member of the prestigious Hip Society and Knee Society as well as the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and The American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
