On July 1st 2020, we officially launched the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute Foundation for Opioid Research & Education (ROIFORE), or “Rothman Opioid Foundation” for short.
This 501c3 non-profit Foundation was launched to facilitate physicians, staff, patients, and friends of Rothman Orthopaedics to come together to help combat and ultimately end the Opioid Crisis. Unfortunately, opioid-related deaths have become the leading cause of accidental deaths in America, and our local communities have been particularly hard hit.
The Foundation has three goals:
- To support pain management research aimed at decreasing the need for opioids for acute and chronic pain.
- To educate patients and prescribers on safe opioid consumption and prescribing habits, respectively.
- To advocate to our legislators on evidenced-based opioid safety policies.
It is our hope that with the support of our physician, staff, and patients that the Rothman Opioid Foundation will help to curb the Opioid Crisis to the benefit of our communities.
