Dr. Deasey is a fellowship trained Sports Medicine surgeon who treats injuries of the knee, shoulder, and hip. He completed his Sports Medicine Fellowship at the world-renowned Steadman Clinic, where he had the opportunity to treat Olympians, high school athletes, and elite athletes from the NCAA, NBA, NFL, PGA, MLB, PLL, PGA, and NHL. In addition, he served as the team physician for the US Ski and Snowboard team in Switzerland.

As a former Division I basketball player at the University of Virginia turned weekend warrior, Dr. Deasey strives to treat every patient with the same level of care and intention, whether they are a professional, recreational, or industrial athlete. His clinical interests span the breadth of Sports Medicine, from shoulder replacement to complex shoulder, knee, and hip arthroscopy.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Dr. Deasey was a decorated high school scholar-athlete. He attended the University of Virginia, where he fulfilled his dream of playing college basketball as a member of the Men’s Varsity Basketball team and an Academic All-ACC performer. He had the privilege of living on the University’s historic Lawn in a room endowed for the top pre-medical student.

After college, he moved back to Philadelphia to pursue his interest in teaching and coaching. He taught science and coached basketball for 5 years. His passion for medicine never dimmed, and he enrolled in medical school at Temple University, where he was a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society, and the Alpha Omega Honor Society. He then completed his residency at the University of Virginia. The Emergency Department named him the Consult Resident of the Year and he was twice named the UVA Orthopaedic Resident of the Year. He served as the state of Virginia’s resident representative at the AAOS National Orthopaedic Leadership Council.

Dr. Deasey has published a dozen peer-reviewed papers and a half-dozen book chapters. His passion for education earned him the prestigious Outstanding Fellow Educator Award during his time at the Steadman Clinic.

Dr. Deasey loves to run, bike, and spend time with his wife and children.
