Dr. Yakkanti is a fellowship trained Orthopedic Surgeon, with advanced training in hip and knee replacement surgery. He specializes in primary and revision hip and knee replacement, with a special interest in outpatient total joint replacement, partial knee replacements and use of advanced technologies to achieve optimal patient outcomes. He earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine where he received the O.J. Hurt Orthopedic Excellence award for the top graduating Orthopedic student. He completed his Orthopedic surgery residency training at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital Residency Program.

During his residency, Dr. Yakkanti earned numerous national and regional awards for both his clinical excellence, as well as his research work including, H. Clayton Thomas Research Award, McCollister Evarts Leadership Nomination, SAMA Research Award, 2022 Outstanding Senior Resident Award, and the University of Miami Award of Research Excellence.

Dr. Yakkanti continued his training with a fellowship in Hip and Knee Replacement at the prestigious Rothman Orthopaedic Institute in Philadelphia. He trained with world leaders in the field of hip and knee replacement, participating in over 600 surgeries while in training. These included complex primary and revision surgeries.  

He has participated in numerous research presentations at premier orthopedic conferences including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.  In addition, he has been invited to present his work at international conferences and appear on international panels. His research has contributed to over 40 peer reviewed publications, multiple grants including the esteemed OREF Total Joint Replacement Grant, and over 60 oral and poster presentations. He is continuing his pursuit of patient centric research by currently serving as the Associate Director of Orthopedic Research at the Rothman Institute/Advent Health Orlando, and serving as a reviewer for the Journal of Arthroplasty.

Dr. Yakkanti is dedicated to the highest standards in patient care as well as furthering the field of joint replacement through his research efforts. His top priority is providing empathetic and personalized care to his patients, while utilizing modern techniques and technology to present them with the most evidence-based and up to date treatment options.

El Dr. Yakkanti es un cirujano ortopédico capacitado con una beca y capacitación avanzada en cirugía de reemplazo de cadera y rodilla. Se especializa en reemplazo primario y de revisión de cadera y rodilla, con especial interés en reemplazo total de articulaciones para pacientes ambulatorios, reemplazos parciales de rodilla y el uso de tecnologías avanzadas para lograr resultados óptimos para los pacientes. Obtuvo su título de médico en la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Louisville, donde recibió el O.J. Premio Hurt Orthopaedic Excellence para el mejor estudiante de ortopedia graduado. Completó su formación de residencia en cirugía ortopédica en el Programa de residencia de la Universidad de Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital.
