Marisa's Story – Spine Surgery

For most people, one back surgery is more than enough. But not Marisa. After two lumbar surgeries failed to fix the herniated disk that was causing her excruciating leg pain, she knew she needed a better solution. She turned to the experts of Rothman Orthopaedic Institute at Riddle Hospital.

After going over her options, Marisa and her Rothman doctor decided a spinal fusion was in order. All she wanted was the ability to walk again without pain, however, her surgeon told her to think bigger. Short of contact sports, she would be able to do anything and everything she wanted.

Since her successful surgery, Marisa has taken their advice to heart. She’s involved in fitness full-time, becoming a nationally certified group exercise instructor who doesn’t just teach indoor cycling, bootcamp, and strength-training classes—she shows people they can come back and be stronger than ever after injury.
