From skiing the slopes in Vermont to rowing the choppy waters of the Schuylkill, Paul does it all. But as a bilateral above-knee amputee, it’s all with his arms. Whether in his wheelchair or out on the water, his shoulders are essential to everything he does—every day.

So when severe arthritis set in to both shoulders, Paul went to Rothman. After carefully considering Paul’s situation, his doctor recommended a total replacement of both shoulders.

Immediately after surgery, Paul’s shoulders already felt much better. Now with two new shoulders, he feels like a new man. He’s out there cutting across the Schuylkill again and handcycling about town. With the help of his doctors at Rothman, Paul’s back to his old ways—making everybody else look lazy.
