Rena, Non-operative Treatment

On the June 12th, 2013, a friend and I were going to an open-air concert in Malvern. As we walked along a path to the site with the music playing in the background, all of the sudden a deer - an eight-point buck - bolted out of the woods and lacerated my right forearm with its hoof. Immediately, I asked someone to call 911 and they laid me on the ground. The ambulance took me to the ER at Paoli Memorial Hospital where I received 22 stitches and was x-rayed and sent home. Subsequently, I'm arm became infected and swelled up and I had to return to the hospital three days later and was admitted. They began administering antibiotics and I was put under the excellent care of Dr. Christopher Jones of the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute, who assured me that my arm would completely heal in time. At one point my arm became so swollen that Dr. Jones had to operate and drain it, and he patiently waited at Paoli Hospital until 12 midnight until an operating room became available to do the procedure. Dr. Jones' calm demeanor and excellent care directly attributed to my being restored to perfect health and I am eternally in his debt. I'm actually quite proud of the scare today and tell everyone about my harrowing experience.
