Best Practices For Avoiding Joint Replacement Infections

August 2nd, 2013

On August 1, 2013, more than 300 orthopaedic and infectious disease experts from around the world gathered at the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute at Jefferson in Philadelphia for the International Consensus Meeting for Prosthetic Joint Infection.  This meeting is the first and largest of its kind and included representatives from 54 countries.  These distinguished guests created a guidance for all physicians faced with treating patients who have been diagnosed with prosthetic joint infection.  The document compiles all available literature and research published on the subject and will become a reference guide for physicians to consult when faced with making difficult medical decisions for this debilitating condition.
