Joint Replacement Surgeons Eric Grossman & Dan Smith Join Practice
Rothman Orthopaedic Institute is launching Hip and Knee Joint Replacement services in New York. Eric Grossman, MD, will lead the service line in our New York City office while Daniel Smith, MD, will anchor the Tarrytown office in Westchester County. Both will begin seeing patients January 7, 2019 and are accepting all major insurances. These services will significantly expand the joint replacement services already offered for the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and ankle.
“Joint replacement has become one of the safest and most effective surgeries in orthopaedics,” saidAlexander R. Vaccaro, MD, PhD, MBA, President of Rothman Orthopaedic Institute, Richard H. Rothman Professor and Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics, and Professor of Neurosurgery at Thomas Jefferson University and Hospitals. “New York has thousands of joint replacement candidates and now they can receive the best care available closer to home. We anticipate a smooth launch of these important services and expect patients to benefit from our expertise immediately.”
Dr. Grossman comes to Rothman Orthopaedics from CareMount Medical Group in Westchester County where he specialized in primary and revision joint replacement, and robotic-assisted partial and total knee replacement.
“It is an honor to be welcomed back into the Rothman ‘family’,” said Grossman. “I completed my internship, residency, and fellowship under the skilled clinicians at Rothman. I look forward to expanding our impressive roster of joint surgeons and launching this important service line in New York City.”
Prior to joining Rothman Orthopaedics, Dr. Smith was a practicing joint surgeon at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City with a focus in navigation-assisted joint replacement surgery. He completed his Fellowship in Adult Joint Reconstruction at New York University – Hospital for Joint Diseases, and his residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY.
“I look forward to joining Rothman Orthopaedics and establishing our joint replacement practice for our patients in Tarrytown and the surrounding communities of Westchester County,” said Smith. “As a resident of Westchester County, I have unique insight regarding the needs and desired outcomes of the patients I will be caring for in this region."
