After more than a year of construction, the first phase of AdventHealth’s Innovation Tower opened to patients, including the new Florida headquarters for the nationally recognized Rothman Orthopaedic Institute.
“It’s been amazing watching the Innovation Tower take shape, and we are so pleased to welcome our first patients to this beautiful facility,” said Randy Haffner, president and CEO of AdventHealth’s Central Florida Division. “We are committed to investing in clinical excellence and advancing research in orthopedics and a whole range of disciplines. This is just the beginning of what our team will do in this building to deliver world-class, whole-person care.”
At 12 stories and 300,000 square feet, the building is a focal point for AdventHealth’s flagship campus, standing next to I-4 near Princeton Street. The building also has an attached 11-floor, 1,600-space parking garage.
Rothman Orthopaedics will occupy 25,000 square feet of the Innovation Tower which will include 20 exam rooms (with plans to expand to 30 rooms over the next year); a procedure room for injections; physical and occupational therapy; orthotics as well as electromyography (EMG). This allows Rothman Orthopaedic patients to receive the highest level of treatment and service all under one roof.
Additionally, 20 Rothman physicians in the following subspecialties will see patients at the Innovation Tower: foot and ankle; hand and wrist; joint replacement; orthopedic oncology; physical medicine and rehabilitation; shoulder and elbow; spine; and sports medicine.
“We are really excited about the continued growth and the opening of the Rothman Orthopaedics hub in the Central Florida market,” said Alexander R. Vaccaro, MD, PhD, MBA, President of Rothman Orthopaedic Institute, Richard H. Rothman Professor and Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics, and Professor of Neurosurgery at Thomas Jefferson University and Hospitals. “AdventHealth has truly been an ideal partner for us, and the opening of this state-of-the-art location on their main campus, will enable us to continue to improve patients’ lives with first-class treatment, from the best-of-the-best physicians in the region.”
“The opening of our Innovation Tower office is a major milestone in the partnership between Rothman Orthopaedics and AdventHealth,” said Daryl Osbahr, MD, chief of orthopedic surgery for Rothman Orthopaedics Florida and executive medical director of the AdventHealth Orthopedic Institute. “Since launching our relationship in 2020, we’ve been busy opening offices across Central Florida to provide the highest quality convenient care close to home. We are all excited to take the next step and open our Florida hub in this landmark building.”
Other areas of the building will open later in 2022 or early 2023. Those areas include space for Orlando Neurosurgery; the new home of AdventHealth’s Neuroscience Institute, with two floors dedicated to the Center for Brain Health; research; sports medicine and rehab space; and an outpatient surgery center.
The building opening comes in the wake of U.S. News & World Report ranking AdventHealth’s neuro and ortho service lines among the nation’s top programs. This marks the first time AdventHealth Orlando ranked nationally for orthopedics, one year after the partnership launch with Rothman.
Innovation Tower is the latest addition to the 172-acre Health Village campus. Health Village — the home of AdventHealth Orlando, AdventHealth for Women and AdventHealth for Children — also includes medical research operations, as well as residential, retail, dining and lodging components.
