With today’s ever-evolving nature of medicine, it’s crucial to have doctors and physicians with the cutting-edge knowledge and experience required to provide the best care for our patients.

Learn more about the newest faces at Rothman Orthopaedics Florida, and the expertise they bring to sports medicine as orthopaedic specialists in shoulder injuries, hand and wrist injuries, knee replacements and more.

Orthopaedic Specialists in Sports Medicine

As the leading orthopaedic provider of sports medicine in our home area of Philadelphia, we pride ourselves on having a team of specialists capable of handling injuries for any type of athlete.

Here are some of our newly hired physicians in Florida, and what they bring to the medical table:

Dr. Jason M. Epstein

A board-certified physician specializing in sports medicine, Dr. Epstein has medical experience that spans the entire East Coast.

Spending time as a team physician for the Cincinnati Reds minor league team, as well as a SpaceX physician affiliate for treadmill exercise testing, Dr. Epstein has spent time working in all sorts of roles across the sports medicine field.

His areas of focus are that of physical fitness and the treatment and prevention of musculoskeletal injuries. However, he also has expertise in the management and care of sports-related concussions, as well as overuse injuries.

Dr. John A. Ruder

A native to the Central Florida area, Dr. Ruder is a trained orthopaedic specialist who completed his sports medicine residency at the American Sports Medicine Institute (ASMI) in Birmingham, Alabama.

Dr. Ruder has a strong focus around hip preservation. Prior to becoming a Rothman Orthopaedics specialist, he spent time at various tournaments and sporting events around the country as an on-site medical professional.

Dr. Ruder’s approach to team care is what made him an easy choice as an orthopaedic specialist on our staff. Here at Rothman, he’ll be managing his patients’ treatment planning, as well as a team of physicians and nurses, to ensure a swift and fruitful recovery for each of his patients.

Dr. Michelle Mullins

Dr. Mullins is a fellowship-trained primary care sports medicine physician with a medical degree from the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. She consistently contributes to medical journals and has authored peer-reviewed book chapters on a number of sports medicine topics.

Dr. Mullins focuses on the prevention of sports-related injuries in young athletes, as well as musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. She currently serves as the team physician for Orangewood Christian School. Specifically, Dr. Mullins puts a strong emphasis on non-surgical treatments for athletes. She also focuses on overuse injuries as they become more and more prominent in sports medicine. This includes injuries like tennis elbow, stress fractures, carpal tunnel syndrome and more.

Dr. Adam J. Money

Aside from his extensive medical education at Georgetown University, Dr. Money has been close to sports his entire life. In fact, he might have a deeper understanding than others in his field strictly due to his background as a high-level college athlete at Yale University.

During his time there, Dr. Money was a first team All-Ivy defensive back for the football team, putting him directly in the field of play where many of the injuries he now treats take place. And now, as one of our newest sport medicine doctors on the East Coast, Dr. Money treats a wide array of sports-related conditions.

With a particular focus on shoulder and knee reconstruction and repair, Dr. Money is a great fit for our team in Florida. He’ll continue to publish articles around sports medicine, as well as contribute to an assortment of medical journals and textbooks alike.

Specialists in Shoulder, Knee, and Elbow Injuries

As two of the most important joints in our body, the shoulder and knee are pivotal to our ability to move freely throughout our daily lives. However, they are also the most prone to significant injury simply due to the way we use them.

Luckily, we have a staff of professionals who understand just how important the shoulder, knee, and elbow can be, how they work, and how to heal them when injured. Meet our newest shoulder & elbow specialist, Dr. Huffman.

Dr. G. Russell Huffman

Our residential shoulder and elbow expert, Dr. Huffman is internationally recognized by his peers as a top surgeon in his field. Born and raised in the Orlando area, he carries a medical degree from Duke University and a subspecialty board certification in sports medicine.

Dr. Huffman is highly experienced in his craft, with 16 years of teaching experience at the University of Pennsylvania and over 100 combined chapters and peer-reviewed publications. When he’s not at his new office in Winter Park performing soft tissue reconstructions of the elbow and shoulder, Dr. Huffman can be found lecturing regionally, nationally, and around the globe.

Specialists in Hand and Wrist Injuries

Hand and wrist injuries are some of the most common orthopaedic issues that come through our office doors here at Rothman Orthopaedics. And because of that, we’ve put together a team of upper extremity experts that are capable of handling any injury in that field of study.

The newest member of that team, Dr. David C. Hirsch, knows how important it is to provide top-of-the-line care to those experiencing pain in this region:

Dr. David C. Hirsch

An orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hand and wrist conditions, Dr. Hirsch is a well-known expert on injuries to our upper extremities. Specifically, he has a strong focus on nerve and tendon disorders, wrist and elbow arthroplasty and arthroscopy as it pertains to orthopaedic injuries.

Dr. Hirsch was brought to Rothman Orthopaedics for his astounding perspective on care – one which resonates with our mission and makes him a perfect fit here. For those under his supervision, Dr. Hirsch acts as the lead for any treatment planning, as well as the lead for his multidisciplinary team as they determine the best course of action for a patient’s injury. Any therapies or novel approaches to the healing process are tailored to the individual patient to ensure the best path towards a full recovery.
