Meet Dr. Ciccotti

Ever wonder what it’s like to be a busy sports medicine surgeon at an internationally-recognized health practice? Well, just ask Rothman Orthopaedic Institute’s own, Dr. Michael Ciccotti. 

In addition to being the Chief of Sports Medicine at Rothman Orthopaedics, Dr. Ciccotti is also Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, Chief of Sports Medicine and Director of the Sports Medicine Fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University. He also serves as Medical Director for some of your favorite, local sports teams including the Philadelphia Phillies and St. Joseph’s University.

While treating world-class athletes as well as other patients, Dr. Ciccotti also holds three additional high-level positions in the world of Sports Medicine: 

  • Chairman, Major League Baseball Medical Advisory Committee – This committee establishes the health and safety standards for all of Major and Minor League Baseball in the U.S.
  • President, Board of Directors, The Orthopaedic Learning Center (OLC) - The OLC is the global leader in surgical skills training with a state-of-the-art learning venue and bio skills lab in Chicago, Illinois. It provides world class surgical skills training with globally-recognized teaching faculty from all over the world. 
  • President, The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) - The AOSSM is the world leader in sports medicine education and research. This society cultivates evidence-based knowledge, provides educational programming and promotes cutting edge research in the field of sports medicine.
