Orlando Valkyries Announce Rothman Orthopaedics in Partnership with Advent Health as Team Medical Providers
ORLANDO, FL – The Orlando Valkyries, a member team of the Pro Volleyball Federation, announced a partnership with AdventHealth and Rothman Orthopaedic Institute as the team's medical and sports medicine provider. This collaboration will bring top-notch care to the team’s health and performance, emphasizing expedited access to care, outcome-based care, and the use of cutting-edge technologies. The Valkyries will also benefit from personnel, including team physician, Dr. Nicole Wilson, and athletic trainer Emily Summerlin.
AdventHealth and Rothman Orthopaedics have made significant strides in transforming orthopedic and sports medicine care as well as rehabilitation services. Their experts use research from over 1 million patients to provide tailored and innovative orthopedic care and advance treatment for complex sports injuries. Together, they bring their expertise and commitment to providing whole-person care to Central Florida.
“As leaders in caring for athletes, AdventHealth is honored to be a medical provider for the Orlando Valkyries,” said Rob Deininger, CEO of AdventHealth Orlando. “We are thrilled to provide world-class physicians and high-quality care to the team, ensuring they stay healthy and perform at their peak, alongside Rothman Orthopaedics.”
“We are excited to team up with AdventHealth to care for the Orlando Valkyries,” said Dr. Daryl Osbahr, Chief of Orthopedic Surgery and Managing Director for Rothman Orthopaedics - Florida. “With a long, specialized history in working with high-performing athletes and maintaining their quality of life year-round, Rothman Orthopaedics’ mission is to deliver top-notch musculoskeletal treatment and enhance the communities we serve.”
“Rothman Orthopaedics and AdventHealth both have a commitment to professional athletes just as much as Central Florida residents, and we both see a great opportunity to partner with the Orlando Valkyries,” said Dr. Wilson, Sports Medicine Physician for Rothman Orthopaedics. “I’m so excited to support our players having the opportunity to compete domestically rather than feeling obligated to play internationally. It has been such a joy and honor to work with these incredible athletes. Our goal is to empower them to have a voice not only in their healthcare needs but in the future of the league and the sport on a national stage.”
Dr. Wilson specializes in non-surgical treatments for musculoskeletal injuries, with a focus on injury prevention. She is highly trained in musculoskeletal ultrasound and has a strong background in sports medicine, having served as a team physician for various teams, including East Carolina University and the Texas Rangers minor league baseball team.
In addition, the team welcomes Summerlin, an athletic trainer with a Master of Science in Health and Kinesiology. She brings extensive experience working in various sports, including football, baseball, tennis, track & field, basketball, softball, and volleyball. In her recent role with the University of Central Florida women's volleyball team, she implemented maintenance programs, conducted injury evaluations, and administered daily treatment among many of her duties.
“We couldn’t be happier with our choice for our medical providers from both AdventHealth and Rothman Orthopaedics,” said Valkyries President and COO George Manias. “Our goal is to keep our athletes healthy and on the court competing. With the team we now have in place, I am sure they will help us achieve these goals.”
In addition to being the health care and medical provider, AdventHealth and Rothman Orthopaedics have committed to being premier sponsors for the team as well. “You will see both AdventHealth and Rothman Orthopaedics represented on in-arena advertising, promotional activity during matches, and throughout our social media presences,” Manias added.
