Rothman Orthopaedic Specialty Hospital (ROSH) in Bensalem, PA was recently recognized as being a top hospital for both Joint Replacement and Cleanliess. ROSH was ranked as the best hospital in the state for joint replacement, and a key factor to achieving that honor lies in a holistic approach to care, according to Max Courtney, MD, Chief of Joint Replacement Surgery.
“We're honored to be recognized as one of the top joint replacement hospitals—we just want to do the right things for our patients,” said Dr. Courtney. “The biggest thing that I think we can offer at Rothman Orthopaedic Institute is a streamlined, evidence-based approach to joint replacement and rapid recovery protocols.”
Each year, Healthgrades highlights the best of the best hospitals that deliver superior quality care. It also evaluates performance using objective quality measures including clinical outcomes and patient safety, as well as patient experience.
ROSH was given the highest honor in 2024 in PA with 91% of patients recommending the facility for care.
ROSH was also ranked as one of the cleanest by CMS' Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems.
ROSH was ranked as the best out of all hospitals in the Philadelphia region according to a survey taken by patients and was ranked as "always" clean about 90% of the time.
"Rothman Orthopaedic Institute is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of patient care," Alexander R. Vaccaro, MD, PhD, MBA, President of Rothman Orthopaedic Institute, Richard H. Rothman Professor and Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics, and Professor of Neurosurgery at Thomas Jefferson University and Hospitals. "Importantly, this includes maintaining clean environments for both patients and their families. While every member of our staff contributes to this effort, our nurses and environmental services (EVS) teams are truly the foundation of this framework. Nursing staff are primary caregivers, assisting with room cleanliness and ensuring that patients are comfortable, happy and safe. Our EVS teams are dedicated to keeping rooms and bathrooms clean, with daily inspections to ensure that trash is removed, linens are changed, and surfaces are scrubbed spotless with germicidal cleaners. Furthermore, EVS teams are responsive to cleaning requests and leave contact cards to quickly address any concerns."
CMS' Hospital CAHPS survey measures patient-reported data on experiences. More than 4,000 hospitals participate, and more than 3 million patients complete the survey each year.
