Rothman Orthopaedics Opens Orthopaedic Walk-In Clinic in Center City, Philadelphia

July 8th, 2021

Rothman Orthopaedic Institute, an internationally recognized leader in musculoskeletal care, opened an orthopaedic walk-in clinic in the heart of Center City Philadelphia at 925 Chestnut Street, 5th Floor. From common sprains and strains to fractures and sports injuries, patients will receive access to a team of expert orthopaedic specialists without the need of an appointment.

“We recognized during the pandemic that patients were skeptical to visit emergency rooms or traditional urgent care facilities, especially in the city, due to potential Covid-19 exposure,” said Alexander R. Vaccaro, MD, PhD, MBA, President of Rothman Orthopaedic Institute, Richard H. Rothman Professor and Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics, and Professor of Neurosurgery at Thomas Jefferson University and Hospitals. “The addition of the orthopaedic-only walk-in clinic to our cornerstone, Center City Philadelphia office will allow us to care for our patients in a safe, timely and more affordable environment.”

The walk-in clinic offers medical care specifically for patients ages 16 years and older with non-life threatening orthopaedic injuries. Unlike emergency rooms or urgent cares that treat a broad range of urgent health problems, Rothman Orthopaedics walk-in clinic will focus on treating acute orthopaedic issues including sprains, strains, fractures and tears.

At the time of their visit, patients will be evaluated by a nurse practitioner who will then decide if on-site diagnostic imaging is necessary. X-rays can be taken on-site and the office’s MRI machine can provide further diagnostic scans if needed. After the diagnoses and a treatment plan is developed, an expedited follow-up appointment with an orthopaedic physician can be scheduled at the location of your choice, if needed. Additionally, patients won’t need an appointment, and the result is specialized musculoskeletal care with less waiting time.
