Recovery Process After Surgery

Because sports related injuries vary so greatly in their severity, the recovery process does the same. Depending upon the location and severity of the condition and type of surgery performed, your recovery process could be as little as a few weeks or take months to fully regain mobility and strength in the affected area.

After surgery, you will be given pain medication to handle the discomfort that comes immediately following. Medicine may also be prescribed to reduce inflammation and prevent blood clots. Most procedures will require casting, a sling or at the very least, a period of immobilization.

There will be recommended physical therapy following all procedures, and the involvement and commitment to this therapy will greatly determine the speed and breadth of healing.
